Camden: choose the destination before choosing the connection
Camden is a separate New Jersey city across the Delaware. A waterfront destination, a university or medical destination and a residential address may call for different final walks or connections. Use the PATCO station map to understand the Philadelphia connection, then plot the exact home and workplace. Do not reduce the choice to the distance across the river or assume one station serves every Camden destination equally well.
Collingswood: test a town-center-and-train routine
Collingswood is worth exploring if you want to compare a New Jersey town center with a Philadelphia neighborhood. Walk Haddon Avenue, then follow the route from an actual home to PATCO. The important question is whether your normal errands and the station fit one practical walking circuit. Check the current PATCO timetable for the days and hours you need; an old “always running” description is not a substitute for today's service pattern.
Cherry Hill: township-wide searches hide very different trips
Cherry Hill is a township with addresses that vary substantially in their access to transport and everyday destinations. Woodcrest is a PATCO station to investigate, but living somewhere in Cherry Hill does not establish that you can walk to it. Compare station access, any parking arrangement and the journey after leaving the train. Tour the streets outside a development as well as its interior: the connection to shops may matter more to your daily routine than its attractive entrance.
Conshohocken: check both the river and the rail route
Conshohocken offers a separate town-center search northwest of Philadelphia. Explore the area around Fayette Street and compare a candidate home's route to the station. Use SEPTA's maps and timetables to identify the relevant Regional Rail service and the Center City stop you would use. Hills, a river crossing or the walk on the workplace end can change the practical value of a home that looks close to rail.
Jenkintown: the station name is not your walking distance
Jenkintown-Wyncote station is a useful starting point for a rail-oriented search, but measure the route from the actual property. Visiting the shopping streets around Old York Road and standing on the station platform are two different parts of the scouting trip. If you work an unusual schedule, look for the train that gets you home at that hour rather than evaluating only a weekday morning departure.
Media: separate the main street from the rail stop
Media's State Street is a useful place to begin exploring its town center. Distinguish the trolley corridor from the Regional Rail station and confirm the current services before building a commute around either. A home convenient for dinner on State Street may produce a different rail walk from a home selected primarily for the station.
For all six candidates, compare rent or ownership costs with transport and your actual tax situation. Crossing into New Jersey changes the jurisdiction, while Philadelphia employment can still matter to Wage Tax obligations. Use official guidance and payroll advice rather than assuming that a suburban address automatically produces a particular take-home-pay saving.
