College Park concentrates everyday businesses along Edgewater Drive, northwest of downtown Orlando. Lake Eola Heights puts older residential blocks north of the lake, with downtown shops and transport beyond them. Their housing, grocery trips and street projects create different daily routines.
Bungalow streets, apartment buildings and historic homes
College Park combines bungalow-style homes with apartments near its commercial corridor. The Princeton at College Park lists one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments at 646 West Smith Street.
Lake Eola Heights Historic District contains clapboard farmhouses built between 1890 and 1911, Craftsman houses and several revival styles. The city’s architectural account identifies the 1923 Craftsman house at 421 East Amelia Street and the 1920 Atha Apartments at 411–415 East Livingston Street.

The grocery trip follows a different street pattern
In College Park, Publix at 2015 Edgewater Drive sits on the same corridor as other neighborhood businesses. Albert Park is farther north at 2400 Edgewater Drive, so groceries and a park visit can use the same business street.
For Lake Eola Heights, Publix at The Paramount on Lake Eola is south of the lake at 400 East Central Boulevard. Both supermarkets list regular grocery hours of 7 a.m.–10 p.m. daily; their pharmacies have separate schedules. Store hours were checked October 19, 2026.
Link 125 reaches both areas, with a turn through Mills Avenue
LYNX Link 125 runs between LYNX Central Station and West Oaks Mall on weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The published route map follows Robinson Street and Mills Avenue, then Princeton Street, Edgewater Drive and Maury Road. It connects the districts by this indirect route, rather than running straight from the lake up Edgewater.
LYNX posts a standard single-ride fare of $2, an all-day pass of $4.50 and a 30-day pass of $50. Around Lake Eola, the fare-free LYMMO Grapefruit Line 62 provides a downtown connection to destinations including Thornton Park, Parramore and Kia Center. The operator lists Grapefruit hours of 6 a.m.–8:25 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m.–8:25 p.m. on weekends. Fares and schedules were checked October 19, 2026.
Historic designation adds a step to exterior renovation
For homes within Lake Eola Heights Historic District, the city requires a Certificate of Appropriateness for certain exterior changes. Its guidance names work such as re-roofing, fences and gates, while major alterations and additions require Historic Preservation Board review.
The official Orlando Locator provides address-level historic-district information. The neighborhood boundary shown on our map and the historic preservation overlay are separate reference areas; the overlay is the relevant designation for this review process.
Albert Park and Lake Eola serve different outdoor routines
Albert Park is an Edgewater gathering space with seating, mature trees, picnic tables and a pavilion with a stage. The city lists daily hours of 6 a.m.–11 p.m.
Lake Eola Park has a 0.9-mile paved lakeside loop, restrooms and playground areas for ages 2–5 and 5–12. At 512 East Washington Street, it is a separate destination south of Lake Eola Heights’ residential blocks. The city lists daily park hours of 6 a.m.–11:59 p.m., leaving time for an early walk or an evening circuit.
Edgewater’s planned street work belongs in a future routine
The Edgewater Drive Complete Street project covers Lakeview Street to Par Street. Wider sidewalks and streetscape changes are planned, with a roundabout at Lakeview. The timeline checked October 19, 2026 anticipates the roundabout segment starting construction in early 2027 and reaching substantial completion in winter 2027.
