The ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden offers a planted counterpoint to Albuquerque's desert surroundings, with themed gardens and glasshouses near the Rio Grande.

Its garden railroad adds a small-scale landscape of bridges, tracks, and miniature settlements to a visit centered on living plants.
Give yourself time to follow the outdoor paths as well as explore the conservatory. The railroad has its own operating schedule, and the BUGarium is undergoing renovation; check the BioPark's current exhibit notices before promising particular stops to children.
