Alum Rock Park occupies a rugged canyon in San Jose’s eastern foothills, combining wooded slopes, creek scenery and remnants of the area’s mineral-springs history.

Its network of trails offers a natural contrast to the surrounding city, with different routes suited to walking, cycling or horseback riding.
Check current trail and fire restrictions before traveling. The Mineral Springs Trail is closed for erosion, and a trestle-bridge section of Penitencia Creek Trail requires a signed detour. Vehicle access is affected by road repairs. Dogs are not allowed in this protected wildlife setting; use only trails designated for your activity.
