Beattie Park in downtown Rockford preserves a nationally recognized Native American mound group within a public green space.

The earthworks provide an opportunity to consider the area’s deeper history alongside the modern city.
The photograph shows the actual mound landscape. Read available interpretation and follow established public routes, treating the earthworks as protected cultural places. Do not climb, dig into or otherwise disturb the mounds. Consult the Rockford Park District for current park access and any organized program before travelling. Ceremonies and heritage gatherings have their own arrangements and deserve space and respect.
