Camp Hancock State Historic Site preserves traces of the military post established to protect railway construction at Bismarck.

A surviving early building, a historic church and a locomotive connect the site with the city’s railroad-era beginnings.
The state historical society distinguishes year-round grounds access from entry to the buildings, which is available for events, tours or by appointment. Check current arrangements before traveling for the museum interior. Outdoor interpretation makes the compact site worthwhile for understanding how the railway and military presence helped shape early Bismarck.
