Capitol Park, Tuscaloosa

Capitol Park preserves stone fragments and reconstructed portions of Tuscaloosa's former Alabama statehouse setting.

Capitol Park, Tuscaloosa

Columns and other remains create an unusual open-air historical landmark within a downtown green space. The site recalls the period when Tuscaloosa served as state capital before government moved to Montgomery.

Use the park address at 2800 Sixth Street and check current local notices before arriving. Weddings and other reserved events may occupy parts of the grounds. Treat the architectural remains carefully, stay off fragile masonry, and combine the historical interpretation with a quiet walk through the surrounding park.
