Carlson Oxbow Park preserves a natural-resource landscape along the Little Calumet River in the Hammond area.

Its wetland setting offers a quieter alternative to developed sports parks nearby.
The park is managed by Hammond and spans a boundary area near Highland; use the city’s current entrance directions rather than assuming a route through neighboring property. The photograph shows a park-identification sign during an earlier visit. Check posted conditions and stay on authorized public routes around wet ground and sensitive habitat. Recreation at neighboring developed parks follows separate arrangements.
