Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area protects a long river corridor through Atlanta’s northern suburbs, including the Johns Creek area.

Separate park units offer woodland trails, river viewpoints and authorized water access.
Choose a particular unit and trailhead from the National Park Service map rather than treating the recreation area as one compact park. The photograph shows the East Palisades section, not the representative map point in Johns Creek. Check current alerts, water quality and dam-release conditions before any river activity. Fees, launches and permitted uses vary, and nearby private property is outside the public routes.
Visitor details reviewed October 18, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
