Colonel Palmer House in Crystal Lake introduces local history through a nineteenth-century house and grounds.

Seasonal activities and interpretive programs explore subjects such as early household work, gardens, textiles and the development of the community.
The photograph shows the actual brick house exterior. The park district advertises free drop-in activities during designated opening periods, alongside separately booked programs and group sessions. Check the latest schedule before arriving on Terra Cotta Avenue. Some activities change with the season, and a special workshop may require registration even when ordinary drop-in access is available.
