Cowiche Canyon west of Yakima offers a walking landscape of rock walls, creekside habitat and open slopes.

The canyon corridor and neighboring upland trails provide different perspectives on the dry country around the Yakima Valley.
Choose a trailhead and route from the conservancy’s current recreation map before setting out. The canyon path and upland routes differ in terrain and exposure, so carry water and allow for heat. Check current trail conditions, respect private-property boundaries and stay on designated routes to protect the landscape and its wildlife.
