First Encampment Park is a small historic pocket park in Salt Lake City marking an approximate campsite of the first Latter-day Saint pioneer company in July 1847.

Granite landscape features carry names and evoke the mountain and canyon route of the arriving group.
The city identifies the park at 1704 South 500 East. Plan a short interpretive stop to read the stone markers rather than expecting a large recreation park or an indoor museum. The photograph shows the actual commemorative landscaping. Use the city’s historical account for context and respect the planted areas while viewing the memorial features. Check posted notices for current access conditions.
