Fonthill Castle in Doylestown Township preserves Henry Chapman Mercer’s distinctive concrete home.

Its irregular rooms and extensive use of decorative tiles connect an unusual building experiment with the interests of a collector and tile maker.
Reserve a current guided castle tour and check stair and route requirements before arriving. The photograph shows the house exterior. The nearby Mercer Museum has separate admission and a different location, while castle grounds and interiors follow different access arrangements. Discuss mobility needs beforehand and follow conservation guidance around tiles, furnishings and historic rooms.
