Fort Hays State Historic Site preserves surviving buildings associated with the nineteenth-century army post at Hays.

Its interpreted structures offer a destination for exploring military and regional history on the Kansas plains.
Use current Kansas Historical Society information to check opening and available visitor services. The photograph shows the historic stone blockhouse rather than a complete surviving fort complex. Building access, guided activities and special programs may follow separate arrangements. Stay in designated historic-site areas and confirm any particular exhibition or accessibility requirement before making a special journey.
