Hart Memorial Park offers lakes, mature trees, and picnic space along the Kern River northeast of Bakersfield.
It is the historic center of the wider Kern River County Park recreation area, with opportunities for a relaxed walk and time outdoors. The lake photograph shows one part of a much broader public landscape.
Check current county notices and facility rules before arriving. River currents are dangerous and there are no lifeguards; a lakeside walk should not be treated as an invitation to swim. Fishing requires the appropriate license, while group use and some picnic activities need separate arrangements.
