Headquarters House Museum

Headquarters House preserves a nineteenth-century home on East Dickson Street in Fayetteville.

Headquarters House Museum

Now associated with the Washington County Historical Society, the building connects domestic life with the conflict that reached the town during the American Civil War.

A visit provides an opportunity to look beyond the house’s military associations and consider the people who lived and worked there, including enslaved residents whose histories the society interprets. Consult the historical society for current visiting arrangements and programs. Allow time to appreciate the house in the context of the surrounding historic streets.
