Jay C. Hormel Nature Center protects habitat and offers nature education in Austin.

Its restored prairie, woodland and trails provide opportunities to observe the local landscape through different seasons.
Use the center’s current map and notices to plan a route, and check interpretive-building and program hours separately from trail access. The photograph shows a monarch butterfly feeding in the center’s restored prairie, not a guaranteed sighting during your visit. Stay on designated paths, leave plants and wildlife undisturbed and confirm any organized activity in advance.
