Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park

Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park preserves Hawaiian cultural landscapes along the lava coast north of Kailua-Kona.

Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park

Fishponds, shoreline habitats and interpreted historic places connect visitors with earlier life on this part of Hawaiʻi Island.

Plan an entrance and route from current National Park Service maps and alerts; different areas have separate access points. The photograph shows a reconstructed Hawaiian shelter beside the shore during an earlier visit. Treat cultural structures and wildlife habitat with care, remain on designated routes and avoid climbing on historic features. Confirm visitor-center access and any guided activities separately before travelling.
