La Grande Commercial Historic District

Brick commercial blocks, decorated upper stories and surviving historic signs reward a slow walk through the downtown streets.

The photograph shows an actual commercial building in the district. Use the city’s historic-district map to plan a route along public sidewalks around Adams Avenue and the adjoining streets. Individual shops, cultural spaces and offices maintain their own opening. The historic designation does not provide interior access to every building. Allow extra time for crossings and check current downtown event or parking notices.
