Matchless Mine Historic Site

Matchless Mine Historic Site preserves surface structures associated with Leadville’s mining history and the story of the Tabor family.

Matchless Mine Historic Site

The mine setting provides an outdoor counterpart to the exhibits at the National Mining Museum downtown.

The historic site is seasonal, closing from Labor Day to Memorial Day; confirm the next opening and visiting arrangements through the operator. Underground access is unsafe and is not part of the visit. The photograph shows the surface buildings and headframe rather than a working mine or an open underground route.

Visitor details reviewed October 18, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
