McMahan Mound Site in Sevierville preserves evidence of an Indigenous settlement near the meeting of local rivers.

The surviving earthwork represents a much longer history of community life than the modern town and its surrounding visitor attractions.
The photograph shows the historical marker rather than a reconstructed village or excavated interior. Use the town’s walking-tour information and view only from permitted public areas. Do not climb protected earthworks, dig or collect objects. Respect the site’s cultural significance and check current route conditions before adding this brief historical stop to a downtown walk.
