Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge protects river-valley habitats across several units extending southwest from Bloomington.

Wetlands, woodland and trails create opportunities to observe wildlife while understanding the importance of the Minnesota River corridor.
Choose a specific unit from current refuge maps. The Old Cedar Avenue boardwalk is closed for replacement through an expected late November completion, with reduced parking and weekday restrictions on part of Bluff Trail. Check current alerts before setting out. Bloomington visitor-center hours differ from outdoor access. Respect habitat closures and private boundaries, and allow for seasonal flooding.
