Moundville Archaeological Park preserves the earthen mounds and plaza of an important Mississippian cultural center beside the Black Warrior River.

The University of Alabama operates the archaeological park and Jones Archaeological Museum. Exploring the landscape and interpretation together offers context for the people who built and inhabited this ancestral place.
The park is in Moundville, south of Tuscaloosa; use its own visitor directions when planning the trip. Check admission, museum hours, and any event restrictions before arriving. Stay on permitted paths and mound routes, leave artifacts undisturbed, and approach the site with respect for its continuing Native cultural significance.
