Partially Buried Woodshed is a landmark of Robert Smithson’s earth art at Kent State University.

Partially Buried Woodshed

Created in 1970 by loading earth onto a shed, the work developed through collapse, weathering and its association with the campus’s turbulent history.

The photograph shows surviving foundations during an earlier visit. Visitors should expect remnants and interpretation in the campus landscape rather than an intact building or indoor exhibition. Locate the site using the university’s current campus information, near the Liquid Crystal and Materials Sciences area, and use authorized pedestrian routes. Respect the remains and check parking and accessibility arrangements before travelling.
