Prickett’s Fort State Park
- Reconstructed frontier fort park
- Regional draw
- Fairmont
Prickett’s Fort State Park near Fairmont combines a reconstructed refuge fort with historical interpretation and a river-side park landscape.
Its programs explore aspects of late eighteenth-century life rather than presenting the reconstructed palisade as an untouched original.
The photograph shows the fort reconstruction. Check the current seasonal interpretation schedule and admission arrangements before arriving. Park grounds and staffed historic experiences have different access, and demonstrations can vary by day. Follow interpreter guidance around tools and structures, use designated trails and arrange school or adult groups separately.
