Sabal Palm Sanctuary protects a remnant palm-forest landscape near the Rio Grande outside Brownsville.
Trails offer opportunities to observe birds and explore habitat that once covered a much larger part of the river delta. The historic Rabb house provides an additional landmark within the sanctuary setting.
Use the sanctuary's current visitor directions and check opening days, admission, and trail conditions before traveling. Choose a route suited to heat, insects, and your available time. Remain on marked paths and observe birds quietly; guided activities and access to historic interiors may need separate arrangements.
