San Antonio Missions National Historical Park protects a connected group of Spanish colonial mission sites south of downtown.

San Antonio Missions National Historical Park protects four separate Spanish colonial mission sites south of downtown: Concepción, San José, San Juan and Espada. Churches, historic structures and surrounding landscapes connect the sites with the region’s Indigenous communities and colonial history.
The missions occupy different locations along the San Antonio River rather than one compact museum campus. Some churches remain active places of worship, with religious services distinct from park interpretation. The National Park Service provides a visitor center at San José and information facilities at the other mission sites.
