Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge protects floodplain forest, marsh and grassland near Saginaw.

Wildlife observation and designated trails offer opportunities to explore habitat used by migratory birds and other animals.
The Wildlife Drive is closed for the season and is scheduled to reopen in June 2027. Trails also close on specified autumn and winter hunt dates, including October 30 through November 5, 2026. Check the refuge’s current closure list before travelling. The photograph shows ducks recorded at the actual refuge. Use designated access points and keep wildlife undisturbed; a map of the wider refuge does not mean every area is open.
Visitor details reviewed October 26, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
