State Capitol State Park surrounds Oregon’s capitol setting in Salem with landscaped grounds, historic markers and fountains.

County-history plaques, a circle of state flags and the Moon Tree give a walk through the grounds a civic-history theme.
Use the state park’s walking guide to choose a route and check current notices. Fountain operation is seasonal, and a grounds visit is separate from entering the capitol building or joining a building tour. Bring drinking water: the park states that public drinking fountains are not available on the grounds. The photograph shows the capitol in its actual setting rather than promising interior access.
