Thomas Paine Monument in New Rochelle commemorates the political writer and revolutionary thinker near the neighborhood where he spent his later years.

Its nineteenth-century pedestal and later sculptural addition reflect successive efforts to preserve his public memory.
Plan a short exterior stop from permitted public areas and read the inscriptions without obstructing neighborhood traffic. The monument is separate from the nearby Thomas Paine Cottage Museum, which has its own visiting schedule. Do not climb the stonework or enter adjacent private land. Check local signs for access and parking, and combine the stop with a considered walk through the surrounding historic setting.
