Waco Mammoth National Monument preserves fossils of Columbian mammoths and other Ice Age animals at their discovery site in Waco.

The protected dig shelter lets visitors view remains in place, connecting scientific interpretation with the physical evidence. The fossil photograph reflects the monument's central paleontological attraction.
Check current guided-tour tickets and dig-shelter access before arriving, since viewing the excavation follows the site's visitor arrangements. Allow time for the introduction and the walk to the shelter. Stay on designated paths and walkways, and leave fossils and other natural objects undisturbed.
Visitor details reviewed October 18, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
