Staunton’s Wharf Area Historic District preserves a commercial landscape of warehouses, storefronts and rail-era streets.

Its compact scale makes it useful for considering how transport and goods handling shaped a part of downtown distinct from the main shopping street.
Explore from public sidewalks and signed pedestrian areas. The photograph shows part of the historic streetscape. Restaurants, businesses and private interiors set their own access rules, while working rail areas remain restricted. Consult current visitor information for guided walks and events, and do not cross tracks or enter loading areas for photographs.
