Atlantic City’s World War I Memorial takes the form of a classical rotunda enclosing Frederick MacMonnies’s sculpture Liberty in Distress.

The combination of architecture and sculpture gives the monument a distinctive presence away from the boardwalk’s main entertainment areas.
The photograph shows the central sculpture, one component of the memorial. View the monument respectfully from permitted public areas, read its inscriptions and do not climb the structure or disturb commemorative objects. Check current local signs for access and keep surrounding pedestrian routes clear, particularly during remembrance ceremonies or maintenance.
