A major Austin park where broad lawns, Barton Springs, trails, gardens, and large community events meet.

Zilker Metropolitan Park brings together more than 350 acres of Austin recreation space near the meeting of Barton Creek and Lady Bird Lake. Open lawns, trails, play areas, and specialized attractions make it a park that supports very different kinds of visits. Some people come for a picnic and skyline views; others build a day around swimming, a garden, or a family activity.
Barton Springs Pool, Zilker Botanical Garden, the Austin Nature and Science Center, and the Zilker Hillside Theater are among the destinations associated with the park. Choose a few priorities before arriving, since these facilities have separate schedules and admission arrangements. The wider grounds also include picnic sites, disc golf, volleyball courts, and a playscape.
Large events can substantially change everyday access. Austin City Limits, the Trail of Lights, and other gatherings may affect lawns, parking, and routes through the park. Consult the city’s current alerts and transportation information, especially when planning a weekend visit. Parking is first come, first served, and public transport or cycling can simplify arrival.
