Plans for the former Macy’s and Sears parcels
The City’s September 2026 update says Alliance Residential’s proposed five-story building at the former Macy’s site would contain 358 homes. Its formal application, received April 30, was still in planning review. At the former Sears site, the owner was marketing residential redevelopment and had not submitted a development application.
The City page identifies 214 existing homes at Portola. It requires at least 25,000 square feet of new public open space on the Sears parcel before final occupancy of the first residential building there.
