About Uptown

Uptown is the downtown riverfront district of Columbus, Georgia, with loft homes in restored commercial buildings alongside restaurants, shops and arts venues. The free Roll With US shuttle serves selected streets around Broadway and Front Avenue.

Loft laundry and parking arrangements differ by building

Eleventh Street Lofts, at 11 West 11th Street, offers studios and one- and two-bedroom homes in restored downtown buildings. Its operator lists washer/dryer hookups, gated parking, on-site storage and maintenance. Original tin ceilings are limited to selected lofts.

Fontaine Lofts, just off Broadway, is another converted mixed-use building. Its operator lists on-site laundry facilities, dedicated covered parking and pet-friendly apartments. Leasing inquiries for either building go to 706-323-7700.

The free shuttle stays within designated Uptown streets

METRA’s Roll With US uses on-demand golf carts for free trips. Its published service area extends from Bay Avenue to First Avenue and from Ninth to Fourteenth streets. Carts do not cross Thirteenth Street; access to Fourteenth Street is via Front Avenue. These are shuttle limits, not neighborhood boundaries.

Published hours are 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 10 a.m.–midnight Friday–Saturday. The METRA page links the booking service, service-area map and rider rules. It lists no Sunday operating hours.

Public garages have floor and space restrictions

METRA lists free public parking at the RiverCenter garage, 919 Broadway, except reserved spaces. At the Front Avenue garage, 1028 Front Avenue, only the first floor is public parking; upper floors serve employees and university housing. Uptown Columbus lists a two-hour limit for on-street parking. The METRA Parking Division answers 706-225-4584.

Tuesday evening hours at Mildred L. Terry

Mildred L. Terry Public Library is at 640 Veterans Parkway, south of the main Uptown shopping blocks. Tuesday is its late-opening day, with regular hours of 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday–Saturday hours are 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Sunday is closed. The branch offers curbside pickup and can be reached at 706-243-2782.
