Houston Heights sits within the broader Greater Heights area north of Interstate 10. Heights Boulevard and the parallel Yale and Harvard streets are useful landmarks, while the city’s historic districts preserve several parts of the neighborhood’s older residential fabric.

Houston Heights forms the center of the larger Greater Heights super-neighborhood area. The municipal planning area also includes other communities inside the 610 Loop, so its boundaries are broader than the historic Houston Heights subdivision.
