About our research
Use local information as a starting point, and verify the details that matter to your decision.
Sources and context
StrollPlace brings together information from public datasets, government agencies, and other referenced sources. Where provided, the Sources & data notes section identifies the references behind a page. Photo credits and map attribution remain with their respective visuals.
Photographs and visual representations
We use photographs and illustrations to help visitors explore locations. We aim to use images of the actual places described whenever reliable photographs are available.
A photograph may show only part of a city or neighborhood, and older images may not reflect current conditions. Where an image represents a broader surrounding area rather than the exact location, we identify it as representative imagery.
Images are provided for general context and should not be relied upon to assess the current condition of a property, neighborhood, or local service.
We provide image credits and licensing information where applicable. You can report an inaccurate or rights-sensitive image through our support channels.
Dates mean different things
A reporting period describes when data was collected or what period an estimate represents. A source-check date records when a reference was checked; it does not make an older statistic current. Read both before using a figure.
Place and measurement matter
City, county, state, and metropolitan-area figures describe different geographies. A citywide average does not describe every neighborhood or property. Survey home values and gross rents are not current asking prices, available listings, or quotes.
Photographs and representative imagery
Read the label and caption beside an image. A location photograph with a reviewed geographic match depicts the identified place; that review is not a guarantee of current conditions or a legal certification. Representative imagery may show a wider area or an illustrative scene. Illustrations, including AI-generated scenes, are not evidence of the appearance of a particular street, neighborhood, property, or business. Images without a verified location label should not be treated as verified photographs of the named location. Camera coordinates alone do not prove what a photograph depicts.
Image sources, credits, and reuse
Third-party photographs may come from Wikimedia Commons contributors or other credited sources. The creator retains applicable rights. Open the associated image credits to find the creator, source, selected license, and disclosed changes. Wikimedia Commons is a source, not necessarily the photographer, and its metadata does not guarantee rights clearance. A copyright license may not resolve privacy, publicity, trademark, or other rights. People, properties, businesses, and creators pictured or credited do not thereby endorse or participate in StrollPlace.
Reuse of a third-party image is governed by its own license and applicable rights, rather than a blanket StrollPlace license. Where an adaptation is subject to a share-alike license, that treatment applies to the adapted image. It does not relicense the entire website. For rights concerns, use the existing Consumer Terms reporting procedures.
Limits of this information
Information may be incomplete or outdated. We do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Independently verify important details with the original source, relevant authority, or a qualified professional before making decisions.
When information differs
Compare the geography, definition, and reporting period first. If a detail conflicts with current information from the responsible agency or provider, confirm it directly before relying on it. A source link is a way to inspect the evidence, not an endorsement or a guarantee.
