Older houses extend from Vineville Avenue into the side streets
Vineville’s historic residential setting follows Vineville Avenue and streets including Rogers Avenue, Cleveland Avenue, Buford Place and Hines Terrace. Historic Macon documents houses dating from the 1830s through the 1930s, with Victorian, Neoclassical and bungalow forms among the mix. Churches and commercial buildings also form part of the district.
Historic zoning adds a design-review process for exterior work
Macon–Bibb Planning & Zoning identifies Vineville among its local design-review districts. Its property-owner guide explains that a Certificate of Appropriateness covers proposed exterior alterations, additions or demolition in those districts. Some applications receive staff review; others go to the Design Review Board.
The guide specifically sends masonry repairs and entire window or door replacements to staff to determine whether a certificate is required. It distinguishes these from minor in-kind repairs. Planning & Zoning’s contact is 478-241-2554, at 3661 Eisenhower Parkway, Suite MB104.
Route 1 has different outbound and inbound timing points
Route 1, Vineville–Zebulon, runs from the downtown transfer station beside Terminal Station at Cherry and Fifth streets toward the Forsyth Road corridor and Zebulon Walmart. Its timetable uses Vineville Baptist Church as an outbound timing point and Vineville Avenue at Pio Nono as an inbound timing point.
The posted Saturday table’s final outbound trip passes Vineville Baptist Church at 5:35 p.m. The final inbound trip reaches Vineville Avenue at Pio Nono at 6:15 p.m. These are different boarding locations and directions, so a general route closing time is not the last pickup time at a particular stop.
Ingleside Village shops are separate from the larger Forsyth Road grocery trip
Ingleside Village occupies both sides of Ingleside Avenue between Corbin and Rogers avenues, adjacent to the Vineville Historic District. Visit Macon describes a cluster of local shops, restaurants and galleries there.
For a larger grocery shop, Kroger’s Wesleyan Station store is at 4650 Forsyth Road, farther along the corridor beyond historic Vineville. The operator lists grocery pickup and a pharmacy. Route 1 names the Forsyth Road Kroger among its destinations.
