Downtown Mesquite

Downtown Mesquite centers on Main Street and Front Street Station.

Historic core, future apartments and everyday connections

About Downtown Mesquite

Downtown Mesquite centers on Main Street and Front Street Station. Groceries on Galloway Avenue, the nearby Main Library and Hanby Stadium’s booked connection to DART support everyday trips. Palladium Mesquite is a nearby housing project targeting its first homes for 2027.

The historic core and the larger planning district

Main Street’s storefronts and Front Street Station form Downtown Mesquite’s compact commercial core. The city’s Main Street program focuses revitalization work here. A separate downtown zoning district adopted in August 2025 covers a broader area, with Core, Mixed-Use and Edge subdistricts. Those planning designations guide development; they do not mean every downtown block already has apartments above shops.

Palladium’s first homes are planned for 2027

Palladium Mesquite, at 940 Military Parkway near downtown, is under construction. Its operator advertises fall 2026 preleasing and says the first homes will be ready in 2027. The gallery currently shows renderings. This is a future option for a later move, rather than evidence of homes ready for immediate occupancy.

The planned 111 apartments include one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts, with 95 income-restricted homes and 16 market-rate homes. Income limits depend on household size. The operator lists washer/dryer connections and a private balcony with storage.

A daily grocery store and a seasonal Saturday market

Kroger Plaza at 525 N Galloway Avenue provides a supermarket and pickup option north along the Galloway corridor from the historic core. The operator lists grocery hours of 6 a.m.–11 p.m. daily, with separate pharmacy hours. This serves a full grocery trip beyond the downtown dining and specialty shops.

At 100 W Front Street, the Downtown Mesquite Market has a different role: locally grown seasonal produce and maker-produced goods. Its customer FAQ lists Saturday hours of 9 a.m.–1 p.m. in April–June and September–November, with evening hours in July–August. The FAQ identifies event parking at Front Street Station, Broad/Front and Heritage Square.

Hanby Stadium is the starting point for booked rail connections

Hanby Stadium, at 410 E Davis Street, is the local connection point for pre-scheduled weekday STARNow trips to DART’s Lawnview Station in Dallas. STAR Transit publishes separate morning and afternoon departures in each direction. Book through STARNow or 877-631-5278; the onward DART journey is a separate part of the trip. Same-day STARNow rides elsewhere remain limited to its travel zone and available vehicles.

Study space and evening hours at the nearby Main Library

The Main Library at 300 W Grubb Drive offers four study rooms on a first-come basis for up to two hours, rather than advance reservations. It stays open until 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; Sunday is closed. This is the Grubb Drive library, distinct from the North Branch on Oates Drive.
