About Old Nampa Historic District
Old Nampa Historic District is a residential area of early twentieth-century bungalows and other historic houses. Downtown library services, Lloyd Square’s seasonal market and weekday buses at the Civic Center lie beyond its residential blocks.
Bungalows and historic property records
Old Nampa’s housing includes Craftsman bungalows built from plan books and home kits during the railroad era. Many houses date from the 1920s and 1930s, and some retain original windows, interior built-ins and other architectural details.
The residential district entered the National Register in 2007. Its city information page links a construction-year map and historic property records, including contributing and noncontributing classifications. The city treats local historic designation as a separate process from the National Register listing.
Downtown library and the holds window
Nampa Public Library is downtown at 215 Twelfth Avenue South, beyond the residential historic district. City residents and property owners qualify for a free card; an in-person application needs photo ID and separate proof of address. Regular hours are Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
The Third Street South walk-up window provides an alternative to entering the building for eligible holds. After a ready-for-pickup notice, call 208-468-5812 the same day and allow at least five minutes. Window hours are Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and Saturday, noon–5 p.m. Ten-minute parking spaces sit beside the window; the adjacent garage’s first hour is free. Kits cannot be collected at the window, and account fees must be below $10.
Lloyd Square and Saturday groceries
Downtown’s Lloyd Square Park, near Front Street and Thirteenth Avenue South, combines open lawn with former lumber-yard buildings used for events. Nampa Farmers Market operates there on Saturdays, April–November, selling produce, baked goods and prepared food. Its operator also offers online preorders collected at the market’s pickup tent.
Weekday bus access at the Civic Center
The Civic Center at 311 Third Street South is a Route 42 destination outside the residential district. VRT’s route connects Caldwell’s Happy Day Transit Center and Boise’s Towne Square Mall, also serving CWI and Ford Idaho Center. Buses run hourly on weekdays, with no Saturday service. Standard adult fare is $1.50, or $2.50 for an all-day pass.
Nampa lost Route 40 service on October 1, 2026. On-demand service was also removed except at selected CWI, St. Luke’s and Saint Alphonsus partner locations. Those exceptions do not make the district’s residential streets an on-demand pickup area.
