Older residential streets, Five Points and a spring-fed wetland park in East Nashville
About Lockeland Springs
Lockeland Springs is a historic residential neighborhood within East Nashville, with Victorian-era houses, foursquares and Craftsman bungalows among its older streets. Five Points supplies a nearby commercial hub around Woodland Street and 11th, while Lockeland Springs Park preserves a wooded wetland farther east.
Houses built after the old estates were divided
The area developed from estates including Lockeland and Springside, with subdivision around the turn of the twentieth century. Its residential streets contain a range of styles, including Queen Anne, Eastlake, American foursquare and Craftsman bungalow.
Metro lists the Lockeland Springs–East End conservation district among its historic overlays. Its mapped area and design guidelines describe that designation, rather than every property using an East Nashville address.
Five Points at Woodland and 11th
Five Points forms a commercial meeting place around Woodland Street, 11th Street and Clearview Avenue. The historic walking tour locates its neighborhood stop at 1101 Woodland Street.
This shopping, dining and cultural hub is one part of the wider East Nashville area. The tour also records repeated rebuilding after fires and tornadoes, including the March 2020 tornado that damaged Five Points and nearby streets.
A wooded park shaped by natural springs
Metro’s park directory lists Lockeland Springs Park at 1810 Woodland Street. Between Lockeland Design Center and Shelby Park, the site contains wooded wetland and naturally occurring springs.
A bottling plant once sold water from the springs. The city’s project page describes trails, interpretive signs and outdoor classrooms as planning work, rather than completed facilities.
