The Alaska Zoo presents animal habitats and conservation interpretation on Anchorage's hillside.

Its focus includes northern wildlife, offering visitors a chance to consider adaptations to cold climates and the care of animals with very different needs. The wooded setting makes the visit an outdoor walk as much as a sequence of exhibits.
Check current animal-area notices and seasonal visitor arrangements before booking. Dress for the weather, wear suitable footwear, and allow time for patient observation rather than expecting every animal to be visible at once.
Visitor details reviewed October 17, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
