Alkali Flat Central Historic District preserves a residential part of early Sacramento around E and F streets.

Its varied houses record changes in domestic architecture and neighborhood life from the nineteenth century into the early twentieth century.
The photograph shows an actual historic streetscape in the district. Use the National Register map for an exterior walk between roughly Ninth and Twelfth streets. Many properties remain private homes, and historic designation does not provide entry to porches, gardens or interiors. Current businesses and cultural premises keep independent hours. Respect occupied entrances, keep driveways clear and check street conditions before exploring.
