Denver’s historic downtown station combines a working transportation hub with a grand public gathering space, restaurants, and shops.

Denver Union Station is both a working transportation hub and a destination in Lower Downtown. The historic station’s grand interiors now sit alongside restaurants, independent shops, and the Crawford Hotel, giving visitors reasons to stop even when they are not catching a train. It is a useful introduction to the neighborhood’s mix of preserved architecture and contemporary city life.
The station opened in 1881, was rebuilt in 1914, and underwent a major reinvention in 2014. Look at the building from Wynkoop Street before stepping inside to experience the Great Hall. A short architectural visit can become a meal, a browsing stop, or the start of a walk through nearby downtown streets, depending on the time available.
Passenger facilities and businesses operate on their own schedules. Use the station’s transportation information for rail and bus connections, and confirm departure details with the relevant operator. Restaurant bookings, hotel access, and special events are separate arrangements. Leave time to find the correct platform or boarding area if combining sightseeing with onward travel.
