Fort Humboldt State Historic Park occupies a bluff overlooking Humboldt Bay in southern Eureka.

Historic buildings and outdoor interpretation mark the site of a nineteenth-century military post, while the surrounding grounds provide a setting for understanding the fort’s relationship with the bay.
At the October 2026 review, California State Parks reported the museum and Surgeon’s Quarters closed for construction. Plan around the outdoor grounds and self-guided interpretation, and recheck restrictions before arrival. The photograph shows the historic buildings and open lawn; it does not indicate that the interiors are available.
