Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge
- Nature reserve
- Regional draw
- Loleta
Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge protects a collection of coastal habitats around the bay, including wetlands and dunes that support diverse wildlife.

Its separated units provide different kinds of nature visits, from established trails and observation areas to more sensitive habitat with limited access.
Use the Fish and Wildlife Service’s visitor map to choose an open unit and follow that unit’s access rules. The refuge headquarters and visitor starting point are near Loleta, while the protected lands extend around the bay. The photograph shows a dune and beach landscape within the wider refuge rather than the headquarters.
Visitor details reviewed October 18, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
