Fort Townsend Historical State Park protects wooded grounds and shoreline on Port Townsend Bay.

Historical traces of the former army post add another layer to a visit centered on trails, trees and coastal scenery.
Use the current state-park map to choose a route and check seasonal camping or facility arrangements separately. The surviving landscape is not a fully reconstructed fort, and visitors should respect protected remains. The photograph shows an open clearing among the trees rather than a guarantee of access to an intact military building.
