Fort Ward Park combines a long saltwater shoreline with wooded grounds and surviving military features on Bainbridge Island.

Its position on Rich Passage gives walking routes a strong maritime setting, with different parking areas serving upper and lower parts of the park.
Choose an entrance from the park map and check current rules for shore access, boating and paddle-craft camping. The lower shoreline picnic area is reached on foot from the upper grounds. The photograph shows the rocky beach and passage rather than a guaranteed low-tide route or unrestricted entry into historic structures.
