The Historic General Dodge House in Council Bluffs preserves the home of Grenville M.

Dodge, a Civil War general and railroad figure. The substantial nineteenth-century house provides a setting for exploring domestic life and the role of railroads in the region’s development.
Tours begin at the neighboring Beresheim House on the same grounds. Check current visiting days before traveling: the museum closes in January and on many holidays, and severe weather can also affect access. Allow time for a guided visit rather than assuming you can enter independently. The accompanying black-and-white photograph is an archival view of the house.
